A little history
Working out of a garage and a trailer, Dr. Joey Bergevin started seeing clients as a solo practitioner in the spring of 2020 and it is there, on their small farm in western
Ellensburg, where Central Washington Equine Hospital was born. While his wife Cassie was busy managing the pharmacy, wrangling two young children (Jimmy and Jaycee), and dealing with all things farm life brings, Abby Slyfield, LVT was keeping Joey organized and his clients well cared for, this practice started to grow. Within a year and with the support of Bill and Roni Grady, ground was broken on what was planned to become a place of equine veterinary support for Kittitas County. By the fall of that same year, CWEH had grown to 2 doctors, 7 support team ambulatory practice serving most of central and western Washington and had moved to Cassie and Joey’s new ranch in eastern Ellensburg. By June of 2022, the first elective surgery was performed in a brand new, 12,000-square-foot building in the heart of downtown Ellensburg, and by the end of the year, the full-service referral hospital was in full swing. CWEH has now grown to a multi-service, multi-doctor practice that provides support to most of Washington state. Please use this site to meet our team of dedicated support staff, without whom none of this would have been possible, and peruse many services available at CWEH. As always, please contact us if you have questions.
Our 12,000 square foot facility is located in downtown Ellensburg. The horse hospital includes 3 extra large exam rooms, a consult room, a kitchen, a reception area, offices, a surgical suite, an indoor lameness pad, as well as a 6-stall intensive care unit.
